SHERINGHAM POINT LIGHTHOUSE
PRESERVATION SOCIETY

About the Society

The Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society was established in 2003, incorporated under the Society Act of British Columbia, and is a registered charity.  We are dedicated to preserving and protecting the Sheringham Point Lighthouse and other significant foreshore properties in Shirley, British Columbia.

In 2015 the Government of Canada transferred Title to the Lighthouse and its surrounding lands to the Society for safe-keeping and to ensure continued pubic access.  The Society’s mission is to maintain and conserve the historic structures and character-defining elements of the site to the highest heritage and environmental standards, and to ensure the entire site remains safe and accessible to the extent possible.

It is also the Society’s mission to document and recognize the historic significance and to make that information widely available through public education and engagement.

The Society is a democratic, membership-based organization, operated and directed by volunteers, under the guidance of an elected Board of Directors.   To contact the Society, please click here.
